Meet Ms. nicole

Nicole Herwehe

I’m so happy to be joining the Head, Heart + Hands teaching team as the First Grade Assistant this year. One of the things I love most about Waldorf education is how it honors the pace of childhood—bringing rhythm, nature, and beauty into learning in such a thoughtful way. As a mom and former homeschooler, I’ve always been drawn to ways of learning that protect childhood and give kids the space to grow through play, creativity, and connection.

Over the years, I’ve worked with children in a variety of ways—as a nanny, a camp counselor for Royal Family Kids Camp (a summer program for children in foster care), and currently as the teacher for our specialty yearbook and newsletter class. I’ve also been involved in many areas of our program, from fundraising and festival planning to school communications. These experiences have given me a strong connection to this community and a deep appreciation for the heart behind everything we do here.

I find so much joy in connecting with children and meeting them right where they are. First grade is such a special time where independence begins to take shape, but children still need rhythm, guidance, and room for wonder. I’m excited to bring movement, games, and music into our days, and continue growing alongside the children.

In my free time, my husband Travis, my daughter Penny and I love to travel. We’ve visited over 30 unique places together, and I’ve always felt so inspired by learning through real-world experiences—tasting new foods, exploring historic sites, and connecting with different cultures. I believe that travel keeps us open, curious, and inspired.I’m honored to be part of this first grade year and look forward to supporting your children as they learn and grow.
