Miss Monica

Miss Monica
1/2
Kindergarten Teacher
Monica was born and raised in Ecuador, a tiny country that holds a special place in her heart, not only for its breathtaking diversity but also for its charm, which inspires her love for Ecuadorian folk music and seafood. At the age of nine, she immigrated to California with her family, living in several cities across Riverside and Orange County.
Monica has always been captivated by children—their free spirit and endless curiosity. Motherhood only deepened her love for them, and she treasured those early years, devoting herself to witnessing her children's growth and experiencing the joy of unconditional love. Though her two children are now older, she considers it an honor to walk alongside them every day.
Her professional journey began at the CSU Fullerton Children’s Center, where she interned and worked. She was later hired to teach the Spanish Immersion Program at Earthroots, but COVID had other plans. In 2021, she joined HHH, starting as an assistant in the summer camp and Oak Blossom kindergarten class. Now in her third year as a lead class kindergarten teacher, she nurtures children through movement, play, rhythm, imitation, and storytelling. Monica offers children the freedom to investigate, imagine, and engage in creative play with their peers, while guiding them with clear boundaries and abundant love. She is immensely grateful for the bonds she forms with each child and their family.
Monica holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services from CSU Fullerton. She completed one year of the Waldorf Early Childhood Program at WSOC and has attended summer Waldorf training for three consecutive years. Her journey into Waldorf education began when her twin nephews started kindergarten at Journey School. She and her then 3-year-old daughter volunteered, attended class plays, and participated in school-wide events. Monica quickly fell in love with Waldorf education and knew this was the path she wanted for her children. Her daughter graduated from Journey's K-8 program in 2023, and her son is currently in 5th grade at HHH.
In her free time, Monica enjoys camping with her husband Jose, their two children Aubrey and Donovan, and their dog Cosmo. She loves dancing, swimming in the ocean, and chasing sunsets. Following her mother’s recent passing, Monica has committed herself to living by her mother’s example: working hard toward her dreams, cherishing quality family time, and daring to take risks.
