Meet Ms. Kelly

Kelly Thomas

Cooking Teacher

In Africa there is a concept known as 'ubuntu' - the profound sense that we are human only through the humanity of others; that if we are to accomplish anything in this world it will in equal measure be due to the work and achievement of others.

My offering comes by way of food. Specifically healthy food that fuels the body and mind of our most precious resource: our children.

After losing both my parents to cancer at a young age, I devoted my life to health and wellness. I’ve studied nutrition in the U.S. and South Africa and worked at a food intolerance and allergy laboratory, counseling clients and customizing diets for their needs.

Three kids later, my passion for health and nutrition has only deepened and I am thrilled to be sharing my knowledge and passion with a community that I adore. My aim is to inspire children to be creative in their own kitchens, to have an appreciation and understanding of where their food comes from, and most importantly teach them that food made with whole, healthy ingredients is delicious.

My children have been involved in the Waldorf system from the start. First at Miss Linnie’s Sunflower Pre-School, later at Journey School, and now at Head, Heard and Hands. I have since become somewhat of a crusader for this method of schooling after watching my children flourish and I can’t wait for your children to do the same.
